The People's Princess, Diana the Princess of Wales is beloved not just by her people in the United Kingdom but also admired by many in the whole world up until today in the modern generation.
With her image that's endlessly reproduced, Princess Diana was one of the most photographed women in the world. And today, Life Through a Royal Lens will be open to the public on March 4, 2022, Friday, featuring the striking black and white image of the princess taken by David Bailey in 1988 with the several images of the royals that will be shown on the gallery at the Kensington Palace.
COURTESY OF HISTORIC ROYAL PALACES
Kensington Palace curator Claudia Acott Williams tells T&C about the new image,
This for me is the most powerful. It shows her in a completely different light...In a way, her retreating from the camera a bit and showing something that’s a bit more stoic was actually her doing something completely different.
The exhibition combines some of the royals' most recognizable and frequently seen photographs with more personal, rarely seen photographs. It also includes formal government portraits as well as casual family portraits. There's the iconic shot of Diana holding hands with AIDS patient Ivan Cohen in 1987, Cecil Beaton's instantly identifiable photographs of the young Queen, an intimate image of tiny Princess Elizabeth taken by her father, and, of course, Princess Margret in the bath wearing a tiara.

ANWAR HUSSEINGETTY IMAGES
The exhibition, which was organized by the organization Historic Royal Palaces, concludes with 50 photographs taken by members of the public. Nearly 1,000 submissions were reduced down to 25 that will be displayed when the exhibition starts and another 25 that will be displayed halfway through the exhibition.
Life Through a Royal Lens will be on display at Kensington Palace from March 4th to October 30th, 2022, and is free to visitors. Visit hrp.org.uk for more information.
